The Forensic Science classes of Penn-Trafford High School hosted “Junior CSI” programs for all of the district’s 5th and 7th graders.
Forensic Science 2 students plan the events for each school and direct the instruction. The program involved a mock crime, with students rotating among various science stations to review evidence.
“The crimes vary,” explained Forensic teacher Mr. Rocco. “At Trafford Elementary School, Mr. Martinell's glasses were stolen by a coworker. Students went through fingerprint, handwriting, hair, and fiber evidence stations to match suspect evidence to the crime scene. At Harrison Park Elementary, Mr. Hohman's blankie was stolen and students went through evidence to nab the culprit.”
At the end of each program, the Forensic students provide a motivational talk focused on effort and belief.
