Overflowing with Fun in Science Club

The fourth-grade science club of Harrison Park Elementary School continued their study of volcanoes.  During March, they had fun learning about the changes from magma to lava and the different types of volcanoes around the world.

Mrs. Jasiewicz, a student learning assistant, continued her weekly luncheons with the students during which she read and facilitated discussions about the impact that volcanoes have on the Earth’s systems and important volcanologists of the 1980s. Then, in an afterschool activity, the students had an opportunity to prepare their volcanoes and create different types of eruptions with common household and food items.

“This was definitely our most explosive investigation yet!” commented Mrs. Jasiewicz.  “The students had a great deal of fun, and I was very impressed with the way they handle themselves during the activities.”
