Penn-Trafford’s Popovich Receives School Nurse Excellence Award

Penn-Trafford nurse Lisa Popovich has been chosen as the recipient of the School Nurse Excellence Award for the Southwest Region of Pennsylvania for 2023.  Popovich was nominated by her peers in the nursing community, who noted her outstanding service to the students and staff of PT. This award qualifies Popovich for the prestigious 2024 Pennsylvania School Nurse of the Year Award.

“Please join us in congratulating Lisa and celebrating her achievements as a Certified School Nurse,” said Jeanette Slimmer, President of the Pennsylvania Association of School Nurses.  “Ms. Popovich is a role model, demonstrating her passion for her profession for all certified school nurses in Pennsylvania.”

“Lisa is incredibly talented and goes above and beyond what’s written in the job description for School Nurse,” said Superintendent Dr. Matthew Harris.  “She oversees the district’s Community Action Program and the Backpack Program and is an active member of the Student Assistance Program. She is also the announcer at multiple sporting events, and sometimes even steps in to sing the National Anthem when a student does not show or the sound system goes haywire. She is kind, compassionate, and accepting of every person she encounters, and she exudes Penn-Trafford school spirit.  We are very lucky to have her at P.T.”

Popovich will be recognized at an awards ceremony in April.
