DonorsChoose Materials Spark Learning

At Harrison Park Elementary School, Mrs. O’Donnell’s first-grade classroom received a makeover which was made possible through a DonorsChoose crowdfunding campaign.  O’Donnell obtained new flexible seating, a variety of new books, and magnetic bookshelves.

A class favorite is the new couch which provides a spot for students to sit and read, complete work, and stay engaged during lessons.  “My students’ faces lit up when they walked in and saw a bright blue comfortable couch sitting in the middle of our classroom,” commented O’Donnell.

O’Donnell displays books that will be read throughout the week on new magnetic book shelves.  “This gets my students so excited to learn and discuss comprehension skills and strategies,” she said.
