Harrison Park Celebrates Reading Achievements

Students from Penn-Trafford’s Harrison Park Elementary School took part in their Summer Reading Treasure Map Celebration on Friday, September 9.  Students in grades K-5 who completed “treasure maps” over the summer were rewarded with the celebration which included Kona Ice, Relay Races, Gaga Ball, Kickball, and more fun activities.

The Treasure Map program challenged kids to read throughout the summer and collect coins for each book to fill their maps.  Completed maps were turned in at the beginning of the new school year to earn a ticket to Friday’s celebration.

Some of the highlights from the celebration were eating Kona Ice and playing games with the high school students.  Among the high schoolers who attended were many graduates of Harrison Park, who were also Treasure Map participants in their elementary days.
