After studying the Southeastern region of the US, the 4th-graders at Harrison Park Elementary School each completed a project to reinforce some of the material they learned. Social Studies teachers, Mrs. Mastroianni and Mrs. Hoffman allowed the students to choose one of the following projects: create a poster on a Civil Rights leader, make a cookbook on Southern-style foods, make a CD of jazz/ blues music or recite a portion of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech.
“The students enjoy researching information that they might not always find in our textbook,” commented Mrs. Mastroianni. “They also appreciate the option to choose one type of project depending on their learning style.”
